The Manchester to Blackpool cycle ride becomes a home to Manchester to Blackpool to home cycle ride.

This weekend we had planned to go to Scotland. So when that trip was cancelled I was able to join Glen on this charity ride. The ride is 60 miles long and Glen thought it would be fun to cycle from home.

I’m not sure if he was joking but as the distance was closer to Octobers Camino daily ride I agreed. Anyway, another training first we broke the 100 mile barrier and cycled 120 miles. To say I’m pleased with myself is an understatement! All the running and cycling is paying off as I really didn’t struggle pedalling. Using energy gels and plenty of water I managed to keep away from that dreaded “wall”.

Im also learning there’s a massive difference in these energy/isotonic gels. I’m trying several types at the moment to find the right one to take on the Camino. I’ll post my findings soon,

In the meantime here’s today’s route:

This blog: Tony Hemans and Glen Eccles cycled the Camino Frances from St jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela covering 845km in 6 days in October 2012.  If you are trying to get fit, planning an adventure, long distance cyclist or just curious about my mid-life crisis then subscribe and share!
